Pair of current Seahawks, pair of ex-Seahawks crack top 50 NFL player sales list

Last week, the NFL Players’ Association released its list of the top 50 players in merchandise sales from March 2023 through the end of February 2024. If you’re curious as to how the NFLPA compiles these rankings, here is an explanation:

The list ranks the top retail performers in the league based on sales of officially licensed NFL player products from March 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024. It provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive sales figures available. The Top 50 Player Sales List is a key indicator of the most marketable and influential players, impacting their endorsements and overall earning potential.

Covering categories such as adult and youth game jerseys, t-shirts, hoodies, bobbleheads, plush toys, socks, face coverings, headbands, figurines, wall decals, credit cards, backpacks, Fatheads, drinkware, pet products, and more, the list represents the only verified rankings of all officially licensed NFL player products sold through both online and traditional retail outlets, as reported by more than 85 NFLPA licensees.

You better believe there was Seattle Seahawks representation!

DK Metcalf topped the Seahawks leaderboard at No. 24 overall, ahead of Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and San Francisco 49ers receiver but immediately behind San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa. Metcalf placed 6th among all wide receivers.

The other current Seahawk is the other half of Seattle’s outstanding receiver duo: Tyler Lockett. He finished 49th on this year’s list after not appearing in last year’s top 50. Former New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones took a major tumble from the previous year but still hung on at 50th. Some very questionable purchasing decisions were made.

Legendary former Seahawks linebacker and current Washington Commander Bobby Wagner came in at 35th, no doubt buoyed by his return to Seattle last season for what proved to be a one-year reunion.

Lastly, Russell Wilson’s last year with the Denver Broncos saw him remain among the NFL’s best at sales, coming in at 42nd. However, the year prior he was 9th.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his former Eagles teammate Jason Kelce were 1-2, while the iconic Kansas City Chiefs duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were 3-4. Christian McCaffrey rounded out the top 5.

I’m calling my shot for 2025’s report: Devon Witherspoon will be in the top 50. As expected, Jake Bobo will be No. 1.
