The Seattle Seahawks began rookie minicamp with two open spots on their 90-man roster. It looks like one of those spots has been filled by a tryout player.
NFL reporter Aaron Wilson says that Seattle has signed tryout invitee Troy defensive tackle Buddha Jones.

Jones, listed at 6’1 and 307 pounds in Dane Brugler’s NFL Draft guide, started his collegiate career at Kent State before transferring to Troy as a sophomore. He didn’t record a sack but did get 6.5 tackles for loss over his three seasons at Troy, as well as three fumble recoveries (including one for a touchdown) in 2022. Jones also batted a couple of passes down in his senior year.
There’s not much else to say! Jones was an All-Sun Belt honorable mention in 2023 but never a first- or second-team in the conference.
To my amazement, there is a lengthy All-22 cut-up of his best plays at Troy (he’s wearing No. 52 and No. 4). Take a look if you have the time! Jones must have made one hell of an impression over the weekend for the Seahawks coaching staff to want to give him a closer look beyond tryouts.
