The ultimate pseudo 2024 Seahawks mock draft

(Editor's note: Promoted from the fanposts. Thanks again to everyone who wrote up their mock drafts, particularly STUFR, who's done this for years!)

Since this is the last of my mock drafts, I will indulge a little. Instead of my standard format of looking at new players, I'm going to go through the draft with what I think will happen, paired against what I want to happen. Those might be the same things, we won't know till we get in there and look.

Draft position... I still have no idea how it really will work out, but I am betting they will trade back in the first. I am guessing they end up with something close to one pick per round, plus it makes an exercise like this really easy. If you want an easy way to make that happen, we give up our 1st, the earlier 4th and 6th to Detroit for their 1st, 2nd and 5th, which is within a few draft value points.

Welcome to the ultimate Seattle Seahawks pseudo mock draft...

Round 1 DB Cooper DeJean-Iowa

I assume earlier that they trade back, mostly because I think Penix and Fautanu are going to be gone by 16 and they will trade back and get a safety cause that is what McDonald wants. He values DTs, which this draft is weak in, LBs and Safeties. He also values versatility and you can move DeJean all over the place like a defensive weapon.

I would take OG Graham Barton

That is because I am boring and want good guards. What I really want is the league to be dumb like normal and to pass on Penix and he is still there at 16 and we take him. I would run that card up as fast as possible.

Round 2 WR Malachi Corley - Western Kentucky

McDonald likes positional versatility. Corley is a wideout that is built like a RB and breaks tackles like a RB. He is a YAC machine and would be a great addition to our offense and set us up for a post Lockett world.

I would rather get Edge Marshawn Kneeland

I am intrigued by him, but the Edge position is not important to McDonald, so I get it.

Round 3 OG Christian Haynes - UConn

Although not a blue chip OG, Haynes should easily be a quality LG for years. He is the type of OG that you draft and never think about again, not for good or bad reasons, which is a good thing. He just comes in and fills the position in a solid way.

I would take this pick

Round 4 RB/WR Isaac Guerendo-Louisville

He is a former WR turned RB who is pure bad ass speed. I don't think he is an everyday back on day one. He is a kick returner and a gadget/designed play guy for the near future. Get him the ball in space and let him move.

I would take this pick

Round 5 LB Jaylan Ford-Texas

McDonald values draft picks. Ford is not a finished product, but the tools are good enough, you draft him and let him learn the position. Set him up for success in the next couple of years.

I would take Safety Malik Mustapha.

I would like the big hitting, sure tackling safety.

Round 6 DT Jordan Jefferson - LSU

Get the giant DT that you stick in the middle. He has room to develop into a dominate DT, but will need some time in an NFL weight room with NFL coaching to really become the stake in the middle.

I would take this pick.

Round 7 TE/FB Jack Westover - Washington

This is my favority pick of the whole thing, so I'm telling you right now that he is my pick. He was Grubb/Penix's safety blanket throughout the season. This isn't a traditional TE, his best comp is more Kyle Juszczyk. He will block and pass protect and most importantly he will catch an absolutely clutch first down every time we need him to.

So... what does the final draft lineup look like:

Round 1 DB Cooper DeJean-Iowa

Round 2 WR Malachi Corley - Western Kentucky

Round 3 OG Christian Haynes - UConn

Round 4 RB/WR Isaac Guerendo-Louisville

Round 5 LB Jaylan Ford-Texas

Round 6 DT Jordan Jefferson - LSU

Round 7 TE/FB Jack Westover - Washington

I would do things a little different, but I would be super happy with this as the final product. It doesn't solve every problem we have, but I don't think we know what our problems are at this point. We have no idea what McDonald will and won't be able to do and develop the people we have. A draft like this would supplement all over, giving us options to play closer to what McDonald like to do.
